Blog page acts like there is nothing there in editor but content shows up

I’m having some problem with my blog page. When I view it in the browser I can see the two blog entries I created. But I’m running into a couple of problems:
1. I can’t seem to update the header title background image. I’ve tried going to Pages > Blog (edit) > Page Title > Background image and upload a new image
2. I’ve tied setting a global header background image under the Format settings

When I try and edit the content of the page, it acts like there is nothing on the page and just shows me a “You have a blank page start adding content or templates”.

I tried reverting back to an older revision but it didn’t help. Any advice would be appreciated!

Thanks for contacting us and choosing our product!
Please note Archive page like Blog, Shop page will not use layout as you edit in Editor, they will use PHP page template. You can change them in Theme Options -> WordPress Settings -> Archive Page (Blog). Similar with Shop page.

Another question, how do I edit what shows up in the right sidebar on the archive page? Do I need to edit the template directly?

Hi,
You can change Sidebar of Blog page in Appearance -> Widgets then select sidebar 1 to edit.
