How to customize WordPress theme using Child theme

Hi all our customer,

In some case you want to customize our theme to make more sense with your work. So this topic will help you Customize WordPress theme use child theme. Please follow the tutorial below:

First of all because you need to Edit files or create new, so you need to use a plugin to Edit file like this: https://wordpress.org/plugins/wp-file-manager/ (or other similar plugins). You also can use FTP to manage your files, or Control Panel File Manager of your hosting,…

If you want to override WooCommerce template you can reference more here: https://woocommerce.com/document/template-structure/

Step 1: Install child theme and active. If you download our theme from ThemeForest you can find it in our product package.

Step 2: After use child theme you can do all your work in here and no worry about loss your custom work.

Please see child theme structure below:

• functions.php: you can write your PHP functions here to override in parent theme
• style.css: wite CSS code here if needed
• templates folder: you will can’t see it when install child theme but we will explain about it now

Step 3: If you want to customize our theme layout or change text,… etc you can do it like this (we will do it with Example):

• You want to change text Film Story of Single Video in Circle – Multipurpose Video, Film WordPress theme as screenshot:

• You can find it in our theme by use Search Tool:

• How ever please don’t customize anything from here. Let’s copy this to child theme like this (keep structure same as in parent theme):

• You can see result at front-end:

Step 4: Customize plugin templates (You can do it with new version 2.0)

• Similar customize theme you can customize plugin templates in child theme too.
• Example we’ll customize template of Haru Trailer and Haru Film
• You need file structure like this

You can see we added ‘2222’ string on title. And here is the result at frontend.

Hi, please let me know how to put product page link over product thumbnail which is displayed in ajax product search results. In resposive view ajax product search bar is also showing product date, please giude me to fix this. Thanks

Hi, If you want to hide it you can add custom CSS in Customize -> Additional CSS: .search-product-category .ajax-search-result ul li .item-meta .publish-date {display: none} . If you want to customize display you can see it in {yourwebroot}/wp-content/themes/clarivo/framework/includes/woocommerce-hooks.php (line 893). To add link at thumbnail please follow this topic tutorial: https://harutheme.com/forums/topic/customize-wordpress-theme-using-child-theme/. Then customize content-product.php file like this: http://prntscr.com/kjkv3m. Hope this help you!

HI I have update to last version of circle them but i lost the connection to vimeo video. I have deleted and reinstalled the haru core circle and slider revolution. What should I do now??

Hi,
Please clear cache to see changes.
In latest version we changed player for Film Player.

I need a bit of assistance, please.
This guide is easy to understand and really good.
Being a newbie at customizing, (but knows html), I need to ask exactly(!) which part of the text shown in the picture, I need to copy;
“How ever please don’t customize anything from here. Let’s copy this to child theme like this (keep structure same as in parent theme):”

And where am I pasting it to?

Forgive me my helplessness, but please give me credit for not giving up when things get hard(and I’m about to explode with frustration) 🙂

Hi,
If you see screenshot you will do it step by step:
– Step 1: Install Parent theme (Example: Circle)
– Step 2: Install Child theme and active (Example: Circle-child)
– Step 3: Copy files in templates folder in parent theme to child theme but keep similar structure. More details you can see in screenshot.

Steps 1 + 2 was already complete. 🙂 It’s step 3 I’m having trouble with.

I have changed the details I need to fix in the template file (on my computer) shown in the screen shots. I can place it in a similar folder in the child theme (on my computer).
How do I get it into wordpress?

In this case you need you should use File Manager tools of your CPanel in your hosting panel or use FTP clients:
